Chiropractic Adjustment refers to the manual manipulation of any joint in the body, applied by a chiropractor. Chiropractors are educated and trained to palpate and evaluate the normal alignment of joints in the body. It requires many hours of palpating human joints to gain the necessary skills and accuracy to determine the proper alignment of joints. Often times a "popping" noise may be heard in conjunction with the adjustment. It is theorized that this noise is caused by the release of natural gases from the joint capsule that is being adjusted.
There are different techniques that may be used to adjust your joints. The main technique will involve the chiropractor using her hands to apply the adjustment. Other techniques may involve the Activator tool or a drop piece that is a part of the chiropractic table. Whatever technique used, the overall aim is to achieve proper alignment and balance.
